Way Back Home

A story created on a flight.

Make stop motion on flight?

As an international student, I need to fly back and forth between the US and China once a while. Before getting on that 12 hours’ flight, a story just keeps catching my attention in my head that I really want to produce it. But I don’t have many tools, how could I make it?

So I bought a newspaper, a pen and a tape at the airport store. And sketched out the story line while waiting to get on board.

tear out figures

Getting on board, I started the production. Because I didn’t have any scissors or knives, I just used my hands to tear out the figures.

put up figures

Then I put up those figures in sequence with the tape I bought from the airport store to see if the transition is smooth.

post process

Because the lighting on the airplane is not bright enough, I later photographed and edited them at home.

Watch again.

I’m home.
